March 2015

Mike Laboki and Josh Baymiller are the winners of "The Catch of the Day" with their catch of big Yellowtail.  They also scored good on Amberjack.

Ken Bray and Ron Jones show off a nice catch of Yellowtail that includes a 41# fish. Not bad for a day on the water guys.

Members from the Kelly Short group show off more of their catch.

Sorry for the delay in reporting back from our recent trip with the group from Mike's Barber Shop in Walnut California, but now that I am back here is what happened.  The group had a pool for the largest Yellowtail caught the overall winner was Phil Little with a 35# Yellowtail on the 1st day of fishing; the winner on the 2nd day was Joe Bereiter with a 32# Yellowtail; and on the last of the three days the winner was David Lopez with a 34# Yellowtail.  There what a lot of other fish caught including Pargo, Cabrillia, Trigger Fish, and Sierra.  Everyone had a great time and are looking forward to their return trip in July.

I have known this for a long, long time but women can catch fish too and sometimes bigger ones than men.

Larry Hipple was fishing for Yellowtail today and hooked one only to have a 525# Blue Marlin take his fish and head for Mazatlan. With the help of Captain Jesus, Larry was able to land the Marlin that was now on 40# test line with a 3/0 hook. The fish threw up his insides and lost the battle. The fish was harvested but only due to its condition.

Several of the guys from American Asphalt had another great day fishing with us as they loaded up on big Yellowtail.  From the look on their faces I think they had a good time.

Our Fly Fishing Guide, Richard has returned to La Paz to work with Fly Fisherman.  He went out with Jack McElroy today and Jack caught this nice Yellowtail and several Dorado similar the the one pictured.

While our mechanic, Jeol was checking out one of our boats he took a few minutes to fish and caught this big Yellowtail.

While this isn't information about fish caught, it is something we are trying to add to our service.  We have purchased this large live bait hold that will be located at our dock and used to provide live bait to our boats daily and reduce the time needed to get to the fishing grounds.

The Yellowtail bite just goes on and on and they are getting bigger and bigger.  Here David and Kevin Simpson show off their catch of the big Yellowtail.  They were fishing with Captain Jesus, pictured on the left.

It was another outstanding day for Jeff Gemal and Tom Wauters. Together they caught enough fish to fill a couple coolers with a variety of fish.

The "Catch of the Day" just has to go to the Loftan party for this big Amberjack.

The goods news for all of us is the Yellowtail only get bigger every day we get reports from La Paz.  Today's "Catch of the Day" goes to Chris and Mara Kent.  I'd say that everyone would like to have a day like the had.

Jeff Gemal and Tom Wauters scored big on these nice Yellowtail today.  It is really beginning to look like we are in for another great season for these big Yellowtail.
